Ali Clarke

Co-Director / Choreographer / Dancer

Ali Clarke is a multidisciplinary artist, cultural producer and policy maker. Ali is currently engaged with the Dublin City Council Arts Office as Creative Community Engagement Officer overseeing the Creative Ireland program in the city. With a strong passion for equality, diversity and inclusion in cultural policy and practice she is currently undertaking a MSc in Equality Studies at UCD.

Artistically her passion lies in creating immersive and interactive performances that explore the interplay between the audience and performers. Her work is grounded in the physical practices of contemporary dance, however she has further expanded her exploration beyond disciplinary boundaries, gaining extensive experience in contemporary circus, theatre, and performance art. With a desire to reimagine the role of contemporary dance in society, Ali has received numerous accolades, including a Next Generation Award from the Arts Council of Ireland, three Arts and Disability Research Awards, the Chasse Theater and Podium Bloos Culture Award, and the Cafe Theatre Festival Jury Award. Additionally, Ali has been the recipient of support from Axis Theater with a Play:Ground bursary and the Creation Artists bursary from the Performance Corporation.

Alongside her work in Ireland, Ali is the Artistic Director of KNOT Kollektiv, an international dance and circus company that creates interactive family performances in the Netherlands and Germany. Under her leadership, KNOT Kollektiv has received widespread support from the Dutch Arts Council, TanzNetz Freiburg, Dans Brabant and Cafe Theater Festival. In addition to her choreographic work, Ali as performed widely with the Brussels-based dance company Untamed Productions, with whom she has toured Europe, Mexico, and Brazil.
